LUMINAR NEO overview with benefits of using it

The ability to quickly and easily fulfill your creative vision with Luminar Neo is due to the AI built into the Luminar Neo photo editing app.

The AI-controlled tools allow you to complete complicated editing steps once only available to those that mastered Photoshop that required multi-step tasks.

Now, with Luminar Neo, those same complicated steps are automated with the intuitive AI-powered editing features that also provide precision and control by allowing you to fine-tune anything to your desired preference.

Also, I should point out that this isn’t just another shameless Luminar Neo promotion since I use Luminar Neo to edit my images. Whether or not you decide to use it is up to you.

That being said, if you don’t have Luminar Neo yet, check out the free thirty day free trial link in the description below and it is my affiliate link that will help support this channel if you decide to purchase a lifetime or subscription license.

AI CROP TOOL

Let’s say you didn’t get the perfect composition when you created an image. Well, with a click of a button, Luminar Neo will analyze your image to improve its composition. How cool is that, I love it!

Now, it’s not perfect and we’ll go into this tool and the others that we are reviewing in more detail later in this free Luminar Neo course.

EDITING ESSENTIAL

As you would expect with any editing software, Luminar Neo includes essential editing tools from white balance to a tone curve, highlight and shadow recovery, and more inside the Develop section.

But, Luminar goes beyond the basics not available in other editing software like, my favorite, a one-click dust removal button that is magically delicious.

Oh, and you can instantly remove power lines with a click too. Pretty cool if you ask me since both are time-consuming Lightroom and Photoshop.

Structure

Structure is another AI tool that allows you to adjust the detail and clarity of an image, and it will make your image POP.

Last 5

Then, with the B&W section, you have the ability to convert your image to black and white, and you have six different color channels to target your edit.

Details provide more options for enhancing, well, your details. Denoise will remove digital noise, Landscape is perfect for landscapes that require enhancing due to haze, or if you want to enhance the colors of it, and then you can apply a vignette.

CREATIVE EDITS

Now, the editing tools in the Creative section is where Luminar Neo really begins to separate itself from other editing software with its built-in AI tools and simplifying the creative editing process for any level of photographer.

It’s sooo much easier to achieve your masterpiece based on your creative vision with any of these editing tools since they take the guesswork out of editing and dramatically lower the learning curve.

Relight

With Relight, AI can, well, relight the foreground and/or background to improve the light of your image.

Atmosphere AI

Atmosphere AI allows you to instantly add fog, mist, and more.

Sunrays

This next one is pretty cool, considering you’d need Photoshop to get the same results of adding Sunrays to your images.

Dramatic: The Dramatic option will instantly apply contrast intelligently to make the light in your image more dramatic.

Mood

If you have a specific mood you’d like to portray in your image, then the Mood options can easily help you achieve that.

Toning: Toning provides an easy way to Color Grade your images to create Cinematic effects.

Matte

If you like to create a Matte effect that can give your images a film-like or retro feel, it’s easy to do with the Matte tools.

Mystical

If you’re looking for a magical, ghostly, paranormal effect, check out the Mystical editing tools.

Glow

Or if you need a simple glow, that can be done from here.

Film Grain

And who doesn’t love a little bit of the good ‘ole days when we shot with film? With Film Grain, you can bring back that look.

PORTRAIT

Most alternative editing software has features to simplify editing Portraits, and Luminar Neo is no different. However, they’ve taken editing portraits to a whole new level with their built-in AI portrait editing tools that make editing portraits a breeze.

If you’ve ever used the time-consuming technique of Frequency Separation in Photoshop, then I’m happy to say you’ll probably never have to do that again for most of your images. More on that later in the course.

Portrait Bokeh AI: Sometimes, we’re unable to achieve the amount of Bokeh in our portraits for whatever reason.

And for those unfamiliar with the term, Bokeh is the smooth, creamy effect that occurs in the background when using large Apertures like f one point eight or f two, for example. Essentially, it’s how much of the background and/or foreground is blurred.

So, with Portrait Bokeh AI, you can simulate that with amazing results.

Face AI

With Face AI, it will automagically select a person’s face, eyes, and mouth using face recognition technology. And then, you can apply some corrective edits, like adjusting the face’s lighting without impacting the rest of the scene. And if you wish, you can Slim the face.

You also have the option to target the eyes and mouth separately.

Skin AI

If that isn’t enough, you can instantly and easily retouch skin with the Skin AI editing tool. It’s magical, if I do say so myself.

Body AI

The “Body AI” could be considered a little controversial due to its ability to reshape a subject’s body. So, if this is something you need for your portraits, you no longer need Photoshop.

High Key

The “High Key” editing tool simulates the look achieved with high-key lighting, where you may wish to overexpose the subject slightly.

PROFESSIONAL

The Professional tools are designed for precise control to advanced editing options to elevate your images to a whole new level.

LAYERS

Now, if we look at the top left here, you’ll see the title of; Layers. This isn’t the type of layer you may be familiar with in Photoshop.

Instead, when you click on it, you have some pre-made overlays that can be “layered” over your image to simplify achieving your creative vision since you won’t need to master how to create these in Photoshop to get these effects.
